Research at the Chair of Multimedia Technology

Aim of the project AMACONT is the component-based design development of highly adaptive Web sites. Research is focused on both the architectural aspects of engineering adaptive Web content (document formats, document generation process, caching) and the authoring process (methodologies, authoring tools).

Das Projekt verfolgt daher das Ziel, den Energieverbrauch komplexer IKT-Systeme durch eine intelligente Softwaresteuerung zu reduzieren. Es wird untersucht, inwieweit durch adaptive Software auf System- und Anwendungsebene ein energieoptimierter Betrieb der zugrunde liegenden Hardwareinfrastruktur erreicht werden kann.

The CRUISe project addresses the application of service-oriented paradigms to web-based user interfaces. By decoupling the application and presentation layers in modern SaaS applications, their UIs can be composed of exchangeable and reuseable "User Interface Services (service-based UI components). Their dynamic and context-aware discovery, selection, configuration and integration is facilitated by an independent UI management system.

In this project standards and design methods for present business applications are evaluated. In close collaboration with the industry partner and other research projects a new approach is evolved for future user-centric, adaptive, collaborative and service-oriented business applications.

In this project we're working on serveral research questions regarding problems with document archiving and long term archiving of various multimedia formats and information. This concerns for example the software technological architecture, interfaces and management algorithms of HSM-systems, different document formats for long time archiving (also interactive documents), questions regarding the digital rights management of specific information, aspects of data security, cryptography and key management systems, but also research questions to metadata management and extraction of semantic data of multimedia documents, as also problems of the usability of client- and serversided applications.

As a DFG project, Hyperadapt investigates well-formed and controlled multi-staged aspect-oriented adaption in the context of hypermedia web applications. The project builds up on experiences gathered in the projects AMACONT and Reuseware.

The research project K-IMM deals with the generation and modelling of semantic descriptions for multimedia documents and their context. Aim of the project is to support creation, storage and maintenance of individual knowledge to enable semantic media management.

Das Ziel von Mefisto ist die Entwicklung einer visuell orientierten Plattform für das Management von Bauprojekten in Form eines Managementführungssystems (MF), das zeitnah visuell aussagekräftige Simulationen auf Basis aktueller operativer Daten auf allen Abstraktionsebenen ermöglicht, komplexe Zusammenhänge visuell verständlich macht, ein dynamisches Risikomanagement ermöglicht, hohe Transparenz schafft, zurückliegende Entscheidungsgrundlagen sichtbar macht und eine Verständnisebene zwischen den Projektpartnern aufbaut, die vertrauensbildend wirkt und Missverständnisse vermeiden hilft, sowie Synergien und Wissensakkumulation fördert.

With MARCOM E an application was developed that enables small and medium-sized companies to work cooperatively and web-based. The main concept of MARCOM E are design templates, which can easily be changed within a web browser, supporting an easy marketing, and offering transparent media objects. The goals of bluetype are an advanced usability and an integrated digital rights management within the media object database.
